About the Opportunity:

As a Lean and Continuous Improvement Production Engineer, you will establish and maintain Lean manufacturing culture across all production areas. You will be leader, influencer and trainer for progress in production maturity of the understanding and effective application of Lean principles.

You will take a leadership role in Continuous Improvement (CI) processes, 6S audits and Kaizen projects focusing on improving production line workflow, efficiency and consistency.

You will also play a key role during New Product Introduction (NPI) process, working closely with other departments while focusing on quality, productivity, on time delivery and efficiency.

This position reports directly to the Senior Production Engineer.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Be our “Lean manufacturing go to person” for Operations inquiries by leading/ participating in Lean assessments, identify gaps, opportunities for improvements, and support, train, and drive on the floor engagement of staff in lean efforts
  • Plan, prioritize and lead CI initiatives and projects such as shop floor redesign, best practices for laminar flow hood stations, 6S and Kaizen and be constantly on the lookout for any improvements
  • Create and maintain Value Stream Map (VSM) for each production line and look for opportunities where automation (semi or full) can be implemented. Cooperate with PEs and other departments (if necessary) to prepare project plan with ROI.
  • Represent manufacturing during new product development and introduction (NPI) to include; pre and production launch phases as well as assisting with pilot production builds; design and implement efficient production line workflow assembly layouts, work instructions and PFMEA; and design, source, build and validate jigs, fixtures, tools, equipment and workstations, including BOMs, routings and work centres in ERP

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or equivalent
  • Mechatronic Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Electronics/Electrical Engineer, Controls Engineer, Process Engineer, Continuous Improvement Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Production Engineer
  • 2-5 years of related Production Engineering related experience
  • 3D CAD software experience (Solidworks or similar), layout sketching (SketchUp)
  • Experience in production and manufacturing companies
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Effective technical problem solving and project management skills; capable of multi-tasking and moving several different agendas to successful conclusion
  • Top-notch interpersonal and teamwork skills with strong innovative orientation
  • Track record of your experience contributing beyond core requirements
  • Scuba diving, interest in scuba diving training or you think scuba diving is pretty cool!
