As a Production Manager you will be responsible for managing the high-quality and efficient output of our Production Team while we produce the best dive computers in the world. This includes 7 Direct Reports in Production Supervision, Internal Service Centre and Shipping/Receiving. We have 30 Electronics Assemblers reporting to our Supervisors as well. You will drive continuous improvement throughout these groups and help our teams grow as individuals as well as a successful team. This position reports directly to the Director of Operations.

Top Responsibilities of the Production Manager Role:

  • Ensure people work safely day in and day out
    • Equipment is safe, available and working
  • Be able to effectively communicate with, coach and lead people up and down the organizational chart
    • Be a strong coach and leader to Production Direct and Indirect staff
    • Help Supervisors develop Assembler III abilities on main lines
  • Manage Production, Shipping/Receiving and Internal Service Centre
    • Support ability to maintain high quality while meeting sales demands
    • Includes performance management, coaching & reviews
    • 2nd line problem solving on the Production floor
  • Production planning (medium and long-term)
  • Work with Quality, Production Engineering and Engineering teams to:
    • Improve quality of products built
    • Improve efficiency on line(s)
    • Increase manufacturability and consistency of line processes
  • Continue to develop cross-training matrix processes
    • Includes training plan development for direct reports
  • Help implement new equipment/processes as required
  • Hiring and on-boarding as required
  • Help maintain a very enjoyable place for everyone to work
  • Answer questions and solve problems
  • Hold staff accountable to task deadlines
  • Attend meetings as required; present topics at Operations Leaders meeting and Town Hall
  • Join Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee (JOHSC) as management representative and implement solutions in Production
  • Help implement continuous improvement projects in Production as necessary
  • Bring major issues to attention of proper position
  • Be able to interface with Sales successfully
  • Back Supervisors up as required

Required Previous Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience managing Production or similar staff
  • Can demonstrate practical use of Leadership training
  • Experience building a team and creating a strong, energized culture
  • Experience holding staff accountable to expectation/deadlines
  • Experience coaching, giving positive/negative feedback and motivating staff toward a goal
  • Experience training staff; knowledge of what is required to train someone
  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook and Office; experience with ERP system

Beneficial Experience

  • Technical expertise: potting, electro-mechanical assembly, electronics, soldering, inspecting for high functional/cosmetic quality
  • Familiar with 5S, LEAN manufacturing, Kaizen events
  • Experience leading an ISO 9001:2015 / EN250 certified manufacturing environment
