Production Project Engineer

Production Project Engineer role will be ~50% project based and ~50% “regular” Production Engineering based. Project base will run major changes to production lines to increase efficiency, while implementing semi or fully automated solutions, machine vision systems, automated fixtures and jigs. The second ~50% will be regular Production Engineering duties and responsibilities.

This position reports directly to the Senior Production Engineer.

Key duties and responsibilities

  • Implementation of large improvement projects on production lines while using automation and machine vision cameras
  • Presentation of project plan (timeline, cost, risks, etc.) to management team for approval and then overseeing project through completion
  • Research and development of equipment vendors and suppliers
  • Support and back-up of Production Engineers on existing products
    • Time studies, BOMs, ERP system
    • Lay-out optimization, Poka-Yoke (Mistake Proofing) solutions
    • PFMEA, Work instructions, etc.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent
    • Electronics/Electrical Engineer, Controls Engineer, Process Engineer, Continuous Improvement Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer
  • 2-5 years of related experience with setting up and commissioning of various equipment
  • Proficient with PLC’s, HMI’s and Machine Vision Systems
  • Understanding of computer programming, software development, ladder logic and structured text language
  • Expertise in different types of automation and material handling equipment
  • 3D CAD software experience like Solidworks or similar
  • Lean manufacturing mindset
  • Experience in production and manufacturing companies
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Desire to contribute to organization beyond core requirements
  • Effective technical problem solving and project management skills; capable of multi-tasking and moving several different agendas to successful conclusion
  • Top-notch interpersonal and teamwork skills with strong innovative orientation
  • Proven track record of previous projects
