Shearwater dive computers communicate over Bluetooth with the Shearwater Cloud app to download dive logs, view dive logs, and update the firmware. Our customers rely on Shearwater Cloud to deliver accurate up-to-date information about their diving, which requires Shearwater Cloud to have rigorous quality standards.

 

The Software Quality Assurance role will embody the quality of the Shearwater Cloud application. Software Quality Assurance must be capable of taking the system we currently have, fixing the faults in our quality process, and enabling Shearwater to create rock solid applications that are fun, useful, and a pleasure to interact with.

This position reports directly to the Software Manager.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Write and execute Test Plans for Shearwater Cloud on Windows, Mac, iOS, Android
  • Ownership and promotion of quality assurance standards for Shearwater Cloud
  • Work on features from beginning to end, from refining user stories, to establishing acceptance criteria to executing test plans
  • Investigate customer complaints and reproduce issues for our developers to solve

 

General Requirements

  • Excellent communicator with good written and verbal skills
  • Comfortable with communicating directly with end users as well as in-house developers
  • Detail oriented and able to work independently
  • Positive team player who likes an organized, methodical, and collaborative environment
  • Collection, management, and organization of testing data
  • Knowledge and understanding of the software development lifecycle
  • Passion for quality

 

Technical Requirements

  • Computer science diploma / degree, or equivalent experience
  • 4+ years prior experience testing multiplatform applications (Windows, Mac, iOS, Android)
  • 2+ years experience creating or using automation to improve testing reliability
  • Familiarity with the Unity editor to perform pre-release testing
  • Perform release and regression testing

 

Beneficial Experience

  • Scuba diving or interest in company sponsored scuba training
