Petrel 1 & 2 / Perdix & Perdix AI Firmware V44 Release Notes

A note on models: The Petrel, Petrel 2, Perdix, and Perdix AI share a common firmware base.
Due to hardware differences, not all features are available on all models. The following changes
apply to all models unless otherwise noted.

Version 44 (2017-03-02):

NEW FEATURE: Release of translated languages for Perdix AI. Translated versions may
be selected when updating firmware. The following languages are available on the
Petrel, Petrel 2, Perdix, and Perdix AI:

  • English
  • 中文 (Simplified Chinese)
  • Français (French)
  • Deutsch (German)
  • Italiano (Italian)
  • 日本語 (Japanese)
  • 한국어 (Korean)
  • Português (Portuguese)
  • Español (Spanish)
  • 中文 (Traditional Chinese)

FIX: Fixed problem when unit is in the turned-off state at high altitude, where it was
using sea level pressure to update the tissue tensions. This resulted in overly
conservative decompression profiles. This problem was introduced in v29.

NEW FEATURE: Add support for X-CCR rebreather model.

  1. Check English version for Perdix AI, please. It looks like there is no correspondong file.

      • I’ve just read an announcement about new FW and tried to update my new Perdix AI from my Macbook, but failed to do this. I’ve tried to find a corresponding file in system folder but didn’t find it. Here is the screenshot: https://yadi.sk/i/lWLVUlM_3Ev9UP

          I apologize for the trouble, it looks like our naming scheme changed so it didn’t download the correct English Firmware. Please restart your Shearwater Desktop and try downloading it again it should work.

            Unfortunately, it didn’t help. While updating I choose “English (v.44)” and press “Yes, update”, then see status: “Getting Ready to Send” on my Mac and “Wait Cmnd” on the Perdix. That’s all. English firmware file is still missing.
            MacBook Air 13″ (mid 2013). macOS 10.12.3, system language: Russian, Shearwater Desktop v.3.1.0

            I updated the desktop on my Mac (OSX 10.12.3) then went to update my Perdix AI (English). transfer starts but then i get an update failure message on the Perdix. No error code, just that it failed. I turned Perdix off and on and it fails again. Sometimes it gets to 17%, sometimes up to 83%. I tried restarting desktop as well and no joy.

        • The old information was still caching on our server. I have manually refreshed it at this time.

          Please try again and let me know if this continues for you.

            I’ve updated my Perdix AI finally after a lot of attempts. The entire process was VERY slow and many times it falls unpredictably. Bluetooth connection seems to be very weak.

            Tried 5 more times with Mac and failed. Booted up my old PC and it installed first go. Think Shearwater needs to do more work on Mac support.

          • I have a Perdix AI and the firmware update gets to 1% or 3% and then says “slip” error… Tried multiple times..

  4. Been trying all night. Constantly has an error message when receiving the firmware update (Perdix AI & MacBook). PLEASE do something about this – it’s driving me CRAZY!!!

    Can’t update because Desktop doesn’t show me vers. 44. It only show vers. 38 and tells me I have newest version. ???

  8. I have update my petrel 2 to V44 italian without problem,
    but when i update petrel 2 dive can of my JJ there is only V44 english choise
    Dive can is update to italian linguage?

    There are a lot of comments about errors on mostly Mac’s displaying: “SLIP RX: T.O. Wait ESC’d” and “Bluetooth error: rx buf overflow”. I am unable to reproduce these issues at this time.

    If you experience these issues, please email me at: “support@shearwater.com” and provide me the following information:
    – The computer you are using: (IE: Windows 7, Mac OSX 10.12.3)
    – Your Dive Computer Model (IE: Petrel 2, Perdix AI)
    – The Current Firmware version of your Dive Computer Model.

    I know this is frustrating, I am sorry for the difficulty with your connections. Addressing this is my top priority.

    i buy today a Perdrix , with firmware V44/BT04 , i install desktop 3.1.0 and i have a macbook pro 2016 with sierra 10.12.3

    when i check the manual to update de software, you go to system setup , after you go to page system setup and normally you see load upgrade between unlock and reset to default. But on my Perdix , i dont see load upgrade.

    if i go to ‘start bluetooth and i start the procedure, when i start the desktop program (update firmware ….) the program don’t see the Perdrix.

    When i open the bluetooth windows on my mac, i don”t see the Perdrix.

    Please can you help me

  11. Hi I have a pretrel 1 computer it works fine when I transfer my dive log to my mac .i have downloaded your new iCloud application on to my iPad Pro and iPhone 6. And updated my firmware on the dive computer, for some reason neither the iPad or the iPhone can connect to the pretrel , if I go into my iPad settings and look for any Bluetooth devices the pretrel is not showing. I know the Bluetooth is working on pretrel as this is how I’m transferring data to mac.
    ( iPhone and iPad software is up to date) any suggestions?

      Hi Dave, Unfortunately the Petrel 1 is not compatible with the Shearwater Cloud mobile app. The Petrel 1 will be compatible with the Shearwater Cloud desktop portion, which will go into BETA later in the Summer. From the Cloud desktop you can upload your logs to the Cloud and then access them on your mobile device. Hope this helps!

    Pourriez-vous m’aider ? Je n’arrive pas à mettre à jour le firmware de mon ordinateur Shearwater Perdix. Il est actuellement en version 33. Lorsque je télécharge la version 44 du firmware, la réception est toujours interrompue à 42% du téléchargement. Je rencontre ce problème à la fois en tentant la mise à jour à partir de mon ordinateur PC Windows (logiciel Shearwater Desktop) mais également avec l’application Shearwater iCloud sur mon iPhone 6s+: réception interrompue en cours de chargement visiblement au même niveau d’avancement 42%. Sur les deux appareils PC et iPhone, je peux en revanche importer mes plongées sans problème avec une bonne connection Bluetooth.
    Est-il possible de récupérer les mises à jour intermédiaires entre v33 et v44 pour vérifier si ces mises à jour se font. J’avais moi-même effectué la mise à jour en V33 sans problème avec mon PC (même configuration).

  14. i have problem brand new perdix AI unit updated also on macbook air 10.12.5 i try french update 4 time max im able to go is 16% i reset factory try updated in english 36% it fail be i get sliprx:t.o. wait esc’d please help serial 370d4374 firmware v44 bt04

    very annoying this is a brand new unit and i see im not alone?
