  1. Hi, Is there any way that you can merge two dives into one on the Shearwater Desktop?

Hi Andy, there is not a way to merge multiple dives together.

        Hello,
Like Andy I would like the capability of merging dives – as an Instructor many training dives end up with multiple ascents and surface intervals lasting longing than 10mins
I don’t imagine that a software improvement to Shearwater Desktop to allow a merge/append would be that hard. So may I request such a thing? Everything else about the product/service is brilliant.
        Optimistically thanks:)

Thank you for the feedback, Chris. While we cannot promise to implement every suggestion, we do take all suggestions from our customers into consideration.

I am also an instructor who would like the ability to merge dives. During openwater sessions I sometimes end up with a dozen 1-2 minute dives logged because of surfacing with students. This makes maintaining my log book very tedious.

          • Shearwater Research

We’ll add it as a feature request. We cannot promise to implement all suggestions but we do take them all into consideration. In the meantime, you can adjust the end dive interval and make it a little longer. The end dive interval is the amount of time that has to pass before your computer considers that the dive is over. Cheers.

Hi Finn, if your Shearwater dive computer has Bluetooth Low Energy (which is the Perdix AI and newer units of the Perdix) Windows 7 cannot connect. For Windows 10 the new “Creators Update” has created a lot of problems with any device that uses Bluetooth Low Energy. Windows has said they are working on a patch but in the meantime you should be able to use Shearwater Cloud to download your dives. I hope this helps Finn and I’m sorry about the inconvenience.

  3. As you mentioned I can’t download because all of my PCs have been updated to windows 10 creators edition.

You mentioned Shearwater Cloud to download dives. I’m able to transfer the dives to my phone and upload them to the cloud service however I’m stuck trying to figure out how to actually download them to my PC from the cloud.

Ultimately I want the dives on my PC so I can merge them into my logbook however I can’t determine how to download them from the cloud to my PC. Am I missing a setting or something?

    thanks,

Hi Robin, at this point we only have Shearwater Cloud for mobile devices which means you won’t be able to sync to your desktop quite yet. We will be releasing the Shearwater Cloud (desktop portion) later in the Summer and you’ll be able to sync your dives then. You’ll also be able to port all your old dives from Shearwater Desktop. Hope this helps!

  4. We just did a holiday where I used my tablet and the Shearwater Cloud app to sync and fill in my logs (with location, notes, details, etc.) for all the dives we did wit our new Perdix AI.
Just to find out at home I have to do this all over again in the Shearwater desktop version.
Is there a way to sync the diver stored in de Shearwater Cloud with the Shearwater Desktop application.
Am I missing something Obvious here?

    • Oh yes, I would like to up-vote David V’s issue.

Shearwater, any way to add an up-vote option so that people don’t need to leave comments like mine in this post?

Hi David and Justin, Shearwater Desktop and Shearwater Cloud are completely separate applications. The plan is to release the Shearwater Cloud desktop portion later in the Summer which will entirely replace Shearwater Desktop. With the Shearwater Cloud (desktop) release you will be able to access your Cloud account on either your mobile device or desktop device and sync all your dive information between them. You will no longer need to do the downloading twice! I hope this answers you question and if you need anything else please feel free to send us a message.

  5. I just did this update and now I cannot connect to my laptop. Laptop is running windows 8. Dive computer is a perdix with firmware version 33. I have had no problems connecting to my laptop prior to this update. The laptop connects with the computer and shows connected in the bluetooth manager. The shearwater desktop finds the perdix and says something about Dive CAN devices. The perdix switches to saying Wait CMD. Nothing happens after this. No downloads of dive logs. Nothing. I have also tried connecting to my phone (Samsung S8). The perdix is unable to connect. My other perdix (firmware 44) connects to both my laptop and my phone without any trouble. Before the update, everything was working fine.

  6. I just purchased my Perdix AL and am looking to dive with it soon!

This this has already been addressed then I apologies for having you read all this. If not then I would like to address a feature that was raised by Hysan Mak on December 12, 2016 for Shearwater Desktop 2.5.0. In particular the ability to enter my dives and all data pertaining to it into the Desktop application. The aim is to have the ability to manually capture all my dives from my dive book up to the point of purchasing my Shearwater, Proceed with being able to automatically upload my loads from my dive computer but still have the ability to manually enter dives in between the dives uploaded automatically.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Justin

  7. After I installed this update a large file (44GB) named Local was added to C:Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\com.shearwaterresearch.divebook
What does this file do and why is it taking up 44GB?

      Hi Thor,

We have identified the issue that is causing this and we will address it in the next update of Shearwater Desktop.
In the meantime, please back up your dives using File->Backup database and then feel free to delete the large file. If you are still having trouble please send us an email at support@shearwater.com.

      Regards,

Is there any way to stop my Perdix from logging a surfacing as a new dive?
E.g., I did a 50min dive but came to the surface for a buddy search after 26mins and Shearwater logged it as 2 dives

    Reply
    • Shearwater Research

      Hi James.
You can try to manage these situations by adjusting the “End Dive Delay” settings. Go to System Setup>Advanced Config>Edit Adv. Config>End Dive Delay. Once in here enter how many seconds you would like your Perdix to be at the surface before it considers the dive finalized. E.g. You came up to surface after 26 mins and spent 180 seconds looking for your buddy. If you want the Perdix to only log one dive you should set your “End Dive Delay” to 181 seconds or more.

Hello, Jan. On Shearwater Desktop select a dive with the serial number of the computer you want to change the name. you can go to Edit>Rename Computer. Enter the new computer name. After you hit ok, all the dives using that computer will have the new computer name on them. There is no need to repeat this process for all dives. You only do it on one dive and the change gets applied to all dives using that computer.

I have a Petrel and wonder, if I start fresh, which application should I use; desktop or cloud?

    Reply
    • Shearwater Research

At this point in time, there are some features that Desktop has and Cloud doesn’t. On the other hand, with cloud, you will be able to use mobile devices and access your dives from any computer. They are not mutually exclusive and you can try both simultaneously. Both are free.

Hi. I have a perdix AI and currently looking at the Teric so I have a redundant dive computer. Is it possible for the 2 dive comps to connect with a single transmitter at the same time?

Hi, Marcus. Yes, it is. You can have both your Perdix AI and your Teric connected to the same single transmitter. Cheers
