Shearwater Firmware v65 for NERD 2, Petrel, Petrel 2, Perdix, and Perdix AI Is Now Available
Shearwater Firmware v65 is now available. This update is applicable to the NERD 2, Petrel, Petrel 2, Perdix, and Perdix AI as they share a common firmware base. Due to hardware differences, not all features are available on all models. The following changes apply to all models unless otherwise noted.
This update includes new features:
- Surface GF display has been added. It shows the gradient factor if you were to surface immediately. This is different from GF99, which shows your gradient factor at the current depth.
- Log sampling rate can be set to 2, 5, or 10 seconds (previously always 10 seconds).
- A “Deco Clear” up-counter option has been added.
This release also includes improvements and fixes. This update is recommended for all users using NERD 2, Petrel, Petrel 2, Perdix, and Perdix AI.

Has Shearwater ever considered offering a CCR feature whereby users can see how much dive time is remaining based on their accumulated deco obligation, bailout carried and RMV?
Thank you for the suggestion, Hugh. I’ve logged it as a feature request. Please keep in mind that this does not constitute a promise to implement this feature.
Another way to do that could be a “bailout TTS” display that can be displayed in CC mode without switching to BO mode.
After updating my Perdix AI in the log, all the Start and End pressures as well as the Avg SAC in each logged dive show N/A.
Where is all this data gone and how can I get it back?
TIA,
Peter
Hi, Peter. Sorry to hear you are having this problem.
The data is still in your Perdix AI. It is not deleted. A bug is preventing it from showing. We are aware of the issue and have it as a high priority item to fix. I cannot currently give any timelines on the next Firmware release. I want to stress however, it is a priority. In the meantime, you can use the Shearwater Cloud app on your phone to check the tank pressures for the dive. Regards.
Thank you all for the fantastic feature additions. Surfacing GF is very practical. I hate to look a gift horse in the mouth, but could not see another place to propose other enhancements. Is a numeric ascent rate indicator something that has been considered?
Thank you for the kind words, Dean. We have a numeric ascent rate indicator in the Teric. We will take it into consideration for the Perdix/Petrel/NERD 2 interface, but we cannot promise implementation of it at this moment. Cheers.
Since the last firmware update my Perdix clock gained 20 minutes, I saw this today when comparing my dive entry time yesterday to the entry time on my wife’s Suunto, never had this problem before.
Thank you for the heads up, Mike. We will investigate this further.
Ok maybe I’m blind or having a blonde moment. LOL! I can say that because I’m married to a blonde. In regards to the firmware update to V65. How do I update my PERDIX-AI
Hi, Carlis. Below you will find the instructions:
Note: Updating the firmware will reset the decompression tissue loading.
* Ensure that you have the latest Shearwater Cloud installed
* In Shearwater Cloud, click or tap on the Connect icon
* On your Perdix AI, press the left button repeatedly until the Bluetooth option is highlighted and then select it by pressing the right button
* After a successful connection is achieved, select UPDATE FIRMWARE in Shearwater Cloud
* Follow the instructions in Shearwater Cloud
In some of the videos (tissue saturation) it called I think GF99 as the highest GF% incurred on the dive. Was that assumed to be at the time of surface. Now in a recent video it calls GF99 as the current GF%. Now I believe the thing to do was to look at GF99 as soon as you go out. Which probably would make it the current GF and the highest because it would reflect the shallowest 10-20 ft of the ascent. The videos showed numbers likd 79 and purposely said that it was because of the GF of say 35/80 that was in the computer. Now the longer i extend my safety stop will teh GF99 decrease further so that when i get out of the water the displayed GF99 will not be my highest GF% of he dive.
Hi, Keith. You have to consider that the computers are tracking 16 tissues simultaneously. GF99 only reports the GF for the leading tissue at that time of the dive and at the current depth — not the surface. If you want to know the GF for when you get out of the water, you need to look at SurfGF. SurfGF will predict the GF% assuming you were to ascend instantaneously to the surface. So all you have to do is extend your safety stop until you see the desired SurfGF and then ascend. Cheers
Almost two months since this release came out and still no bugfix for the Dive Log Problems on the Perdix?
Hi guys! Awesome work and thanks for the continued updates! I was wondering though why the option to reset average depth was removed from OC tech mode? I found this quite useful to reset when reaching the bottom at the beginning of a dive. Are there any plans to bring it back?
Hi, Ben. Thanks for the kind words. We do have plans to bring average depth back.
Any plans to allow you to manually enter in previous dives to the log? I had several dives prior to the purchase and use of the Perdix AI and would love to be able to add these in for convince. Also anyway to update the startup logo/photo without the use of a computer would be neat.
Hello Kyle, Thank you for the suggestion, we have logged it for the future. We can’t promise to implement every feature request, but we do take them all into consideration.
