Shearwater Firmware v81 for NERD 2, Petrel 2, Perdix, Perdix AI and Peregrine Is Now Available

Shearwater Firmware v81 is now available. This update is applicable to the NERD 2, Petrel 2, Perdix, Perdix AI and Peregrine as they share a common firmware base. Due to hardware differences, not all features are available on all models. The following changes apply to all models unless otherwise noted. For Peregrine, please update to the latest Shearwater Cloud v2.6.2 before updating your Peregrine.

This release also includes new features, improvements and fixes. This update is recommended for all users using NERD 2, Petrel 2, Perdix, Perdix AI and Peregrine.

Version 81 includes the following changes:

  • Adds features that were first released with Peregrine v78
  • Fixed issue that would not allow @+5, delta+5, or CEIL to be configured in bottom row
  • Fixed issue that prevented Bluetooth connection to some third-party log software
  • New! Peripheral serial numbers now show when viewing details of a device in the Bus Devices list

  1. Just tried to do the firmware update now and it doesn’t seem available yet. Still getting v72 for my Petrel 2

      Hi Richard, v81 is available for Petrel 2, it usually take a little while for the changes to reach everyone. Please email info@shearwater.com should you still have this issue.

    So does this officially mean there will be no more firmware releases for Petrel 1 ? I would have loved to get the ‘rate’ feature and was anticipating it since seeing it in the peregrin 🙁

      That’s correct the Petrel 1 is no longer supported.

      The Predator has reached it’s product end of life and is no longer supported, so there are no more firmware updates for it.

    Is there any way where perfix can have extetnal monitoring for PPO2? Can a fischer connector will do?

      Hello, Mr. DelaCruz. Unfortunately, no. As it currently is, the Perdix dimensions do not allow for a cable connection in addition to the electronic components already in place. This is why cable connections are limited to Petrel models.

    I have purchased a new Perdix Ai. Firmware update to version 81 is not possible. At the end of the update, I get an error message on the dive computer. Firmware update Failed.

    For the sake of completeness. I tried the update on my desktop with the Shearwater app (windows 10).

    Solution?

    I am also not able to upgrade to v81 from v72 on my Perdix AI from Windows. I get Firmware upgrade failed. Is there something I should do to resolve this issue?

      Hi Eric, I’m sorry to hear you are having these issues with updating your Perdix AI’s firmware.

      I have a few questions to help diagnose your issue:
      – What Software are you using? (IE: Shearwater Desktop or Cloud?)
      – What is the Serial Number of your Dive Computer?

    Firmware update v81 failed on both of PerdixAI using old Desktop application (BT connection is unstable).
    New Shearwater Cloud Desktop does not connect to Perdix AI ( or vice versa)
    Shearwater mobile application doesn’t have Firmware Update feature.

    I just updated my firmware for my perdix AI. I did this through the iOS app. Is there a way I can sync my dive log back on here as it looks like it cleaned them out . I have them on the app but not on the dive computer . My next question is I was having issues connecting the Bluetooth to my pc to sync my dive log on there . How can I download this from the cloud to my pc?

  13. Anyone having the FW issues. Most likely you are already current. It’s a bug in the software telling you it needs updated. Check your computer first and make sure it needs it.
