Shearwater Firmware v83 for Petrel 2 Is Now Available

Shearwater Firmware v83 is now available. This update is applicable to only Petrel 2.

This release is a critical update. All Petrel 2 users should update if using v81.

Version 83 includes the following change:

    • Fixes an issue that could occur during battery change where under certain conditions after a battery change the tissues integrity check could be bypassed resulting in corrupted decompression tissues.

    I heva Petrel 2 with V81. During upgrade I see message Error 350. Send to dive computer failed. I tried on iPhone (last firmware version), iPad (last) and MacOSx (last version). The same problem.

      Hello, I’m sorry you are experiencing these issues. We seem to have narrowed down the issue. It appears that it may be a recurrent but intermittent issue on v81 firmware when updating to v83 firmware, but only on Bluetooth LE. This is why it’s more prevalent on iOS. We have rolled forwards to v83 again, so v83 is back live. We have seen more success updating on BT Classic. So, as we investigate further, please try updating using the Bluetooth dongles with Cloud Desktop while we see what we can do for iOS.

    Just a stupid question.
    Firmware V83 is for all Petrel 1&2, and not only 2.
    Is that correct?

    I’m unable to download the firmware oassing from v81 to v83. After 3-4 min of downloading An error occur (350) – send to dive computer failed. Any solution?
